tasha eats: Foodsbury @ Shah Alam

Happy New Year guys!
I had the best New Year's Eve experience so far. All these years I've spent my NYE with my family (which is pretty damn huge) and just watch the fireworks together but I decided this year I wanna celebrate with non other than the infamous Yi Peng (AKA fellow Lump) since she's moving to San Fran this year omfg.

Anyway, I started out my new year by having lunch with ma clique. But I decided not to review the place because it was The Bee and people, I assume, already know how the food is like there. Come on guys don't tell me you've never been to The Bee.

Went to Foodsbury yesterday in Shah Alam since I was already in the area. My friends seem to really love the place. It's pretty cozy. But nothing I haven't seen yknow what I mean? I guess it's still a pretty alright place to go to chill and be away from crowds and stuff like that if you're idk not into that sorta thing.

It's very kid-friendly so if any of you have little kids, feel free to bring them because they have a little corner in the shop just for kids to enjoy their time while their (moms) talk and talk and talk (gossip) and talk.

Beef Carbonara (RM12) as recommended by the chef. It was pretty good. Although it lacked beef, it was seasoned pretty good. I couldn't finish it because the portion was pretty huge, so my friend finished it for me ha ha.

The girls had Roast Chicken (RM 12/per) I think the mashed potatoes was seasoned really well. It wasn't tasteless like most mashed potatoes experiences I've had. IT was pretty good. Quite a bummer on the portion and salad though. But for RM12, I'll take what I can get.

Root beer float and Coke float (RM4.50 EACH)

Watermelon and Lychee (juice?) (RM9) This happens to be some weird watermelon and lychee concoction. It's like in between a smoothie and a lassi. idk.

tasha eats: Limau-Limau Cafe @ Jonker Walk, Malacca

I finally get to do a cafe review! I kinda forgot when was my last. Oh well. Anyho, just a few days ago my roommates, Anis and Alin, and I, took a drive down from our University to Malacca Town. We decided (Ok , /I/ decided) to head on down to Jonker Street (maybe cause I'm absolutely in love with the place and the food). I initially read about this place on The Weekend Brunch and I decided since I'm already studying in Malacca, I might as well check it out.

KL, Damansara, PJ and TTDI aren't the only places with really cool hangout spots/cafes. Malacca Town is filled with them too. We're just too lazy to find for them. Finding this place was super easy. Its just a few metres from Jonker Walk's entrance on the left. It's this cozy little shop lot with very limited seats. I love the ambiance and their drinks (though I think they are a tad bit overpriced. For Jonker Street. Where all glorious food and drink are dirt cheap)

Drinks!
I had their Lychee + Lemon Fruit Freeze (RM9). It was amazingly thirst quenching. Note: It was a pretty hot day. I was practically melting. Alin had their Chocolate Banana Milkshake (RM10). Which in my own personal opinion, isn't so good. Probably cause I hate blended bananas. I hate any drinks/smoothies with bananas in them. I only eat them with chocolate ice cream. Or as fritters. Or on their own. But Alin loved it. In fact, she was just craving for it today. Anis had their Passion Fruit Milkshake (RM10). Wasn't my cup of tea either. Or was it the weather.

The three of us decided to share an Apple Crumble + Vanilla Ice cream  (RM 8.90). It was so... different. It wasn't your conventional apple crumble. With just cinnamon and apples. It had some other sort of fruit in it i could just taste it. Even the crumble mixture was different. I loved it.

All in all, whenever or if ever you guys are in Malacca and are in need of a place to chill, Limau-Limau is the place to be.

tasha eats: Quar/tet @ TTDI

HallÄ!

I have long neglected this little blog of mine for I am busy with university. And I am truly sorry for that. But fear not I present you a new cafe review!

So, I've been here before I wrote this blog post. Before I even decided I wanted to write about this place. I've had a past experience with their workers and they well, she, ticked me off so much I decided to leave. It's like she didn't want my business or some sort. But then I decided to go again and maybe, just maybe, I'll get good vibes the second time.

And I did!

The worker there was cool. He was pretty chill about me writing and taking pictures of the place. When I got there they were in the midst of decorating the place. They got some 'paintings' and plants.

We decided to sit outsit eventhough the air-conditioning inside was ace. But the lighting was bad. as you can tell.

I had their Smoked Salmon Bagel (RM 16) it was so good. I ate everything on my plate. I like their bagel. It's sort of like this rendition of a french loaf. Their crisp salad was pretty spot on and the whole dish itself was super duper filling. (I'm pretty sure if ma lumpster, Yi Peng, were to have this it'll take her the whole day to finish)

My National Service friend, Viv, had their Turkey Ham sandwich or something I apologize. She forgot what she had. But yeah. She wants to pin-point the fact that the bread was a little bit too thick. She had some trouble eating it but the flavours were there. All in all it was a good dish.

Here are our horrible shots of our drinks. At this point I think it was my camera's way of saying I'm tired let's go home. Cause it just could not focus. I had their Raspberry Soda (?) (RM 10) God, I'm so bad at this. Can't believe I forgot the name of the drink. Agh.

Also, we had their Spiced Hot Chocolate (RM12). It was ok. Not my cup of tea. (ha ha)

I think I'll come here again. Maybe to just chill with my best friend. Try their cakes next time hmm
Stop being a homebody. Go out and i dont know, explore.

Peace out

tasha eats: Butter + Beans @ SS17

There's such a negative connotation about being alone. But little do we know, spending time by yourself actually helps you figure out who you are and what you love or don't love. Like for instance the other day I was in H&M and i actually went "OK, I'm bored". I mean, yeah, I love shopping. But probably not as much as chilling at a cafe with a good book and good music (+ chatter in the background).

Why do people often go "aw, he/she's lonely. I feel sad boohoo" when they see someone sitting by themselves, obviously enjoying their coffee? Sometimes it's okay to be alone. Being alone does not mean you're lonely. Sometimes you just gotta have me-time.

And so that's what I did today! A whole hour and a half by myself at Butter + Beans at Seventeen.

I love how the place is so cozy and welcoming. The guy behind the counter was super helpful. He explained what each and every pastry was and the sweetness level and stuff. I was really pleased. The girl behind the counter was really nice too. She was so excited when I asked her if it was alright if I take pictures for my blog.

Butter + Beans is this really cozy java joint and I think they're somehow associated with Food Foundry I'm not quite sure. If you're with a group of friends of more than 3 then this place is not the hangout for you guys. The place has not more than 2 dozen seats. Which is why I thought it was the perfect place to take myself out on a date.

I sat in this cozy little corner.
I ordered their Hot Chocolate (RM 8) (You guys must be wondering if I'm on a hot chocolate spree or something) (Nah, it's just been a very hot chocolate kind of week). May I just say how amazing their hot chocolate is?! It's so rich and it tastes as though they made it from scratch. And it's not too sweet either! It tastes just right. I just wish they had a variety of hot chocolate flavours. (i.e hot chocolate spice, hot chocolate and peppermint)

I also had their Peach Cobbler (RM 3) (YES SO CHEAP). It was OK. I just wish they would have more peaches than pastry. But the pastry was spot on too. Not complaining.

P/S: It was raining cats and dogs when I reached Butter + Beans. Imagine how perf the moment was. It stopped raining when I left. ha. I dont know why I'm telling you guys this. well.

tasha eats: Kulcats Barrio @ TTDI

Hola chicka!

So my lumpster, Yi Peng and I decided to escape the harsh reality that is life (come on tasha come on) and decided to just go to a cafe and chill. We went to a super chill cafe but I'm not gonna talk about that right now. Anyways that didn't work out. And we were both starving so we decided to go somewhere nearby. We were already in TTDI so I was like "ah, let's just go to kulcats they have food. even after 6pm" (ha ha) (the previous cafe we went to didn't serve food after 6pm) (I know LOLWHUTWTF)

I got so much good vibes from this place. Pretty good music (i.e Try a little tenderness by Otis Redding) (I love this song so much haha cause Pretty In Pink) (Listening to this song as we speak). The people working there are super friendly.

(I really have to try to take pictures better for my blog and not give a hoot about what people think. Then, I'll have great pictures, no?)

(I couldn't get it focused) (obviously you understand my pain)
I ordered their Hot Chocolate (RM 9) which was super duper good. May I just say that that night was really cold. It rained on the way to TTDI. So I had all the reason to order hot chocolate. ha.

Yi peng ordered their Iced Peach Tea (RM 7). Which I had the pleasure of tasting. It was to be honest too sweet for my liking but that's just me. I take my iced drinks super diluted. Also, it had cut peaches in it! Yum.

I had their Sloppycat Burger (RM20). Oh it was so good! Their chili is soooo good. I wish they served chili on its own with a side of fries. I'd just dip the fries in yum. The portion was big and I couldn't finish it. I would say though I think their patty was a tad bit under cooked. Ah well.

Yi peng had their Chicken Parmigiana (RM25). Mmm yum also super good. But I just wish they added a little bit more tomato puree on the chicken. Yi peng says their salad was perfectly dressed. Citrus-y but not too citrus-y.

I really hope you guys check the place out. I know I'd go there again. Definitely.
Peace out homedawgs.
Tash.

(Sorry for the horrible pictures. The lighting was horrid. And the place was packed. Still getting used to taking pictures of places and food in public.)
